[GENERAL GUIDANCE] Jobs in the Gulf attract many applicants, and that also attracts people who post fake offers. A few simple checks before you reply, pay anything or send documents can protect your money, your passport details and your time.
Warning signs of a fake offer
- ●You get an offer without any interview, test or check of your experience
- ●The salary is far higher than similar jobs for your trade and experience
- ●The message comes from a personal number or free email address, not an official company channel
- ●You are pushed to decide or send documents immediately, or asked to keep the offer secret
- ●The company name, website or address cannot be found, or does not match the message
- ●There is no written job description or contract terms before you are asked for documents
How to check an offer is genuine
- ●Find the recruiter's official website and contact them using the details listed there, not the details in the message
- ●Ask for the job title, employer name, work location, salary, working hours and contract length in writing
- ●Confirm the job title in the offer matches the visa you are being processed for
- ●Never share copies of your passport or documents until you have confirmed the recruiter and the offer
- ●Ask family or friends who have worked in the Gulf to look over the offer
What a genuine process usually looks like
[GENERAL GUIDANCE] A genuine recruitment process normally includes screening of your skills and documents, an interview or trade test, a written offer with clear terms, and then documentation, visa processing and travel. If steps are skipped or rushed, slow down and check before you continue.
